Old Race first edition

Old Race première édition

The Old Race: We went for a ride at the first edition of this event, which promised many great things to see and do. I hopped on my 1959 BSA A7, the oldest motorcycle we own at GF, and rode the 91 km to Clairmarais (ST Omer - 59), traversing an unknown landscape where villages and nature are set on marshes. I found it charming, as was the unique venue where hot rods, vintage motorcycles, muscle cars, and VWs filled the generous space of this百年 old farm. But the real spectacle was behind the tall red brick walls and terracotta tiles baked by an unusual sun. A damn race on a specially prepared grass and dirt oval track by the owner, who fears nothing, and all the organizers of @theoldrace, who saw motorcycles and mostly pre-1950 American cars compete. Frankly, I loved it, and I especially enjoyed seeing our Garage Français outfits, our sweaters, and some T-shirts in action on the backs of riders who weren't afraid of damage or the terrain churned by ancient rear-wheel-drive vehicles! I could go on and on about the event, which will be covered in all the car and motorcycle press, but I simply wanted to "tip my hat" to the organizers and riders whose kindness, smiles, and goodwill matched the caliber of the machines present during this long weekend!
